To HiVizMan: I posted a topic about autotune going up to 6ghz when I clicked on extreme with my 2600K.Does the adaptor show up in your Device Manager? If you're using Vista/Win 7 you can simply click on the start button and type in devmgmt.msc Great! Thanks for keeping us in the loop! Great group of people in this community! Looks like Intel made a faulty chip or just simply bad drivers. And I think Asus website only has up to 1.6 which is the one I am using so ill try 1.8 and see if that helps at all but as of now this is a very strange issue that many others seem to be having.

I think intel also may have a new driver I can try that supposedly helps with this issues. However it didnt even work when I went straight into the modem so we will see. To rule out its not an issue just with my router which is an older Linksys but it still runs like a champ.

I brought the PC to work with me and I will get some of the guys here to play with it at lunch time and we can hook it up to our router here. So even if I got a new board there is a good chance I would have same issues. I was on the intel support forums and apparently ALOT of people are having similar issues with this Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet adapter. Well RMAing the board doesn't seem to be a good option at this point upon further research. I hope something here helps! If you don't want to RMA a board you can easily buy a PCI Nic Card (Network interface card) for hardwired or you can also buy a thumb drive wireless card but I personally noticed the PCI cards with the antennas are much more powerful signal strength wise. If none of the above works then it sound like a driver issue talking to the hardware. Put the cable ends side by side with tab down (facing the floor) and colors should be orange, white/orange, green/white, blue, blue/white, green, brown/white, brown. I know you said the cable is good but just double check by using it on another pc and make sure it didn't come in a kit of some sorts and have it be a crossover.
Solid - A valid link has been established, Blinking - Data is being transmitted and received.
Ethernet lights are as follows OFF - No link is established If you are getting link lights on your pc then this tells me you are trying to connect.

This tells me if your drivers are installed and the network is recognizing the adapters.

In the black box type ipconfig/all scroll up to Ethernet adapter and local area connection and make sure it says media state=enabled or connected also look at the physical address which is the mac id and make sure you something like ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-ff where F=a number or letter because every mac is different.
Next go to start and type cmd and hit enter. So now plug your modem directly into your new machine and click on start then control panel then network & internet then network and sharing center then in the left column select change adapter settings highlight local area connection then right click and click properties, click on internet protocol version 4 and make sure the radio buttons obtain ip automatically is checked and also obtain server dns is checked. If the other pc works that tells me the modem is okay. Just making sure your port is operating correctly on the modem. If you are already doing that then try another pc plugging directly into the modem. Scrap are you plugged directly into a modem or a router? If you are plugged into a router try plugging your ethernet cord from your pc to your modem.
